Climate and Canvas

Climate & Canvas was an absolute success, bringing together students, families, educators, artists, and the community to celebrate the creative work of students from Froebel Elementary School. After weeks of exploring climate change and expressing their ideas through sculpture, students had the opportunity to see their artwork displayed in a professional museum setting at the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis.

Throughout the exhibition, students proudly shared their work with family members and visitors, explaining the environmental themes and personal stories behind their creations. Seeing their sculptures showcased in a museum setting was a meaningful and inspiring experience that highlighted the power of their voices in conversations about their home.

The exhibition featured an impressive collection of thoughtful, creative, and visually striking artworks that reflected the students’ unique perspectives on the environment. Families, friends, and community members joined in celebrating the students’ accomplishments, creating a memorable event that fostered pride, confidence, and connection.

We are deeply grateful to the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis for hosting the exhibition and helping make this experience possible. The success of Climate & Canvas demonstrated the impact of combining environmental education with artistic expression and reinforced the importance of creating spaces where young people can share their voices with the broader community.

Building on this success, GGO will bring Climate & Canvas to Chicago during the 2026–2027 school year. The program will provide students with opportunities to explore climate change through art, work alongside teaching artists, and showcase their creations in a public exhibition. To make this next chapter possible, we are seeking donations and community support to help fund art supplies, artist partnerships, transportation, exhibition costs, and other program expenses. Every contribution helps ensure that more students can engage in meaningful environmental learning while expressing their ideas through creativity and art. Please use the button below!
