GGO Field Trips

Spring 2026!

Big Marsh Park!!

In Chicago, GGO is hoping to take our students to Big Marsh Park. An outdoor biking and exploration experience.

We’re looking to take 8 classrooms to a hands-on, confidence-building day at one of Chicago’s most unique outdoor spaces. At Big Marsh, students won’t just learn about nature and movement, they’ll experience it firsthand on bikes.

Students will spend the day:

  • Riding on the Big Marsh dirt track and bike trails

  • Participating in a guided tour of the property

  • Building biking skills in a safe, supportive environment

  • Exploring the outdoors in a way that’s physical, memorable, and empowering

For many of our students, this will be their first time riding on a dirt track, navigating trails, or exploring a large natural space outside and on two wheels.

What it takes to make one class trip happen

Each classroom field trip costs $2,500, and that covers everything. No student is left out.

Your support helps underwrite:

  • Bus transportation for students

  • Transportation to get bikes to Big Marsh

  • Bike rentals for students and adult chaperones

  • Bike repair and maintenance to ensure safety

  • Lunch and snacks for all students

Opportunities like this exist because of generosity. Without underwriting support, this day at Big Marsh Park wouldn’t be within reach for our students.

How you can help

  • $2,500 underwrites one full classroom

  • Partial gifts are welcome and go directly toward making these trips possible

  • Every dollar supports access, safety, and hands-on outdoor learning

If you’ve ever wanted to fund an experience students will remember forever, this is one of those moments.

Help us get our students to Big Marsh Park.
Thank you for being part of GGO and for helping us say yes to experiences like this.

Haunted Ridge Rocks!!

This year in St. Louis, GGO is working to bring something brand new and incredibly exciting to our students, real rock hounding.

We’re hoping to introduce 6 classrooms to a hands-on geology experience at Haunted Ridge Rocks, where students won’t just learn about minerals, they’ll dig for them.

Students will spend the day:

  • Digging for Druze crystals

  • Searching for hematite and other minerals

  • Learning directly from a guest geologist

  • Experiencing geology in a way that’s physical, memorable, and confidence-building

For many of our students, this will be their first time ever digging, exploring, and discovering something with their own hands.

What it takes to make one class trip happen

Each classroom field trip costs $2,000, and that covers everything, so no student is left out.

Your support helps underwrite:

  • Bus transportation

  • A 2-gallon bucket for every student to take home what they find at the mine

  • Lunch and snacks

  • A guest geologist who visits the class ahead of time and joins the field trip

  • Student gear including digging claws, gloves, wire brushes, and safety glasses

These trips are incredible, but they’re not cheap, and we can’t do them without underwriting support.

How you can help

  • $2,000 underwrites one full classroom

  • Partial gifts are welcome and go directly toward making these trips possible

  • Every dollar supports access, safety, and hands-on learning

If you’ve ever wanted to fund something that students will remember forever, this is one of those moments.
